Topic I

 

Building Science Basics for Adobe Building

 

Building Science is the basic information regarding the physical properties of heat, air and moisture, and how they affect buildings and their occupants. Understanding Building Science is essential for designing and building homes that will be healthy, safe and comfortable. It is also essential for succeeding in building a home that is energy efficient and resource efficient. I will be giving a general overview of the field, and go into detail regarding the largest often unlooked at aspects of attempting to build an efficient house.

 

 

Topic II

 

Energy in natural building- embodied and operating

 

I will give a detailed look at the concept of embodied energy and how to start with adobes and finish with a home that makes a small footprint in terms of embodied energy and operating energy.

 

Topic III

 

Development of a low cost spray applied mud plaster finish.

 

A work in progress trying to minimize cost and time to apply mud plaster finishes. A look at a variety of equipment and attempts, giving a best look of where we are at currently.
